Consumer Narrative

Complaint Against Freedom Mortgage Corporation Loan No. : XXXX Property Address : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, FL XXXX In XX/XX/year>, I completed a hardship assistance request with Freedom Mortgage. A notary came to my home, I signed and notarized the required documents, and I was told the documents were received. On XX/XX/year>, however, an unknown and unprofessional-looking person came to my door unannounced, claiming to represent Freedom Mortgage. They left a letter stating that my notarized documents had not been received and warning that my account would remain in default and normal collection activities could resume. This is incorrect and conflicts with both my records and Freedom Mortgages prior approval of me under the COVID-19 Recovery Standalone Partial Claim. I have serious concerns about : Contradictory information : Freedom Mortgage previously confirmed receipt of my documents, yet the letter says the opposite. Unannounced visit by an unverified person : I had no way of knowing if they were actually a representative. Threat of default and credit harm : The letter suggests I am at risk even though I complied. Legal Concerns : Under RESPA ( 12 U.S.C. 2605 ), servicers must maintain accurate records and provide clear communication. Contradictory messages may violate these obligations. If the visitor was a third-party contractor, their conduct may also violate the FDCPA ( 15 U.S.C. 1692 ) by misrepresenting the status of my loan. The conflicting and misleading communications may also qualify as unfair or deceptive practices ( UDAP ).
