I was the victim of a check scam and my bank is holding me financially responsible, even after I reported the fraud. I deposited a check for {$1600.00} that I later learned was fraudulent. At the time, the funds appeared available in my account, and I was instructed by the scammer to send back {$500.00} of my own money. A few days later, the check bounced, and my account went into overdraft, currently showing a balance of - {$700.00}.
