I am submitting this complaint regarding XXXX XXXX and the continued reporting of old missed payments on my credit report. I am currently enrolled in a Debt Management Plan ( DMP ) with American Consumer Credit Counseling ( ACCC ), which is a nationally accredited nonprofit organization. Under this program, I have been making consistent, on-time payments to XXXX XXXX for my account. Despite this, XXXX XXXX continues to report several very old missed payments that occurred prior to enrollment in the program. These old delinquencies are severely hurting my credit standing, despite the fact that my account is now being paid regularly under a voluntary repayment plan. I have requested that XXXX XXXX consider goodwill adjustments to remove these outdated negative marks, given that : I have demonstrated a good-faith effort to repay my debt through ACCC. Payments have been made consistently and on time since enrollment in the program. The Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ) requires furnishers like XXXX XXXX to ensure that information they report is accurate and fair. Continuing to report extremely old missed payments without considering my current repayment history is not reflective of my true creditworthiness today. I am not disputing that the late payments occurred, but I believe that continued reporting of these old delinquencies while I am in good standing with an accredited repayment program is unfairly punitive and not aligned with the intent of the FCRA. I respectfully request that the CFPB require XXXX XXXX to remove or suppress the reporting of these old missed payments from my credit file with all XXXX bureaus, given my consistent repayment through the DMP and my demonstrated commitment to resolving this debt responsibly.
