Consumer Narrative

I am submitting this complaint regarding an inaccurate collection account currently appearing on my TransUnion credit report. The account is reported by XXXX for the original creditor XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Prime, account number XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX with a balance of {$5900.00}. My concern is that this account is being reported only by TransUnion. I have already filed disputes with XXXX XXXX XXXX, and both of those credit bureaus deleted this account from my reports. If two of the three major credit bureaus determined that this account should not be reported, then it is inconsistent and unfair for TransUnion to continue reporting it. Upon reviewing the reporting details, I also noticed discrepancies in the reported dates, which suggest the account may have been re-aged. This is a violation of FCRA 623 ( a ) ( 5 ), which prohibits furnishers from altering or misreporting the Date of First Delinquency to make an account appear more recent than it truly is. Such reporting is misleading and materially impacts the accuracy of my credit file. In addition, I have never received proper validation of this debt from the collector despite my request. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) 809 ( 15 U.S.C. 1692g ), debt collectors must provide debt validation upon request. Since the collector has failed to provide validation, this debt should not be reported at all. Continuing to report an unvalidated debt is an unfair practice under FDCPA 808 ( 15 U.S.C. 1692f ).
