Consumer Narrative
I hope this statement finds you well. Im reaching out not just with a concern but with a story one that many consumers, unfortunately, find themselves living through. While reviewing my credit report as part of routine financial planning, I discovered three hard inquiries that I do not recognize, authorize, or recall ever consenting to. These inquiries are listed as follows : XXXX XXXX XXXX Inquiry Date : XX/XX/year> XXXX XXXX XXXX Inquiry Date : XX/XX/year> XXXX XXXX Inquiry Date : XX/XX/year> XXXX XXXX XX/XX/year> To be absolutely clear, I did not apply for any credit card, auto loan, or financial service that would justify these hard inquiries. Their presence is both confusing and troubling. This situation raises concerns about unauthorized access to my credit report, possible identity misuse, or a procedural failure by the reporting entities or creditors involved. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) : Section 604 ( a ) ( 3 ) states that consumer reports may only be accessed for specific permissible purposes, such as when a consumer initiates a credit transaction or gives written consent. Section 607 ( a ) requires credit reporting agencies to maintain reasonable procedures to ensure that information including inquiries is only accessed under lawful and authorized circumstances. Section XXXX ( a ) grants me the right to dispute any inaccurate or unauthorized information, with the reporting agencies being obligated to investigate and resolve the dispute within 30 days. Given the above, I submitted disputes with the credit bureaus requesting that they either provide documented proof of my authorization for these inquiries or remove them immediately from my credit file. To date, I have not received adequate documentation validating these inquiries, and they remain on my report.
