I lived in the XXXX XXXX XXXX, my move-in date was XX/XX/2024. Upon living there, there was a roach infestation, and I did not want to live there any longer. I paid my last months rent and also paid to break the lease. I moved out in XX/XX/2024. I paid the last months rent which was {$1700.00} along with the {$3500.00} they charged me to break the lease. I was never late on rent and moved out in good standing. They even gave me good regards to my new landlord where I live now. I am only hearing about Columbia debt doing business as XXXX from my credit report. I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX, and they informed me that I didnt owe them anything. Upon doing my research, there are many people saying that this company Columbia debt recovery doing business as XXXX has scammed them for false and unpaid rent claims. I never owed the XXXX XXXX XXXX anything upon moving out. Ive never received an attempt to collect any debt from them. Please help me with information on how I can protect myself from this false claim.
