I was booking a hotel for work and looked up the phone number for a specific hotel. Unbeknownst to me, the number I found led to XXXX I had no idea it was a third-party booking site. In fact, when I asked the person on the line if this was the hotel, they replied that they were the reservation department. That was incredibly deceptive, and in my opinion, this is essentially fraud. I stayed at the hotel ( a XXXX XXXX ) but checked out a day earlybefore the check-out timewhich the front desk was completely fine with. However, they told me they couldnt give me a receipt because I had booked through a third party. I was shockedI had no idea! Not only that, but XXXX added outrageous fees to my stay. XXXX XXXX never charged them for the final night, yet they refused to refund me. I was tricked into doing business with a company I never intended to use. Heres what Ive done so far : - Disputed the charge with my credit card company - Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau - Filed a complaint with my states Attorney General - Filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission - Filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services ( where XXXX is located ) P.S. The XXXX XXXX XXXX was no help. Despite XXXX being XXXX-accredited with an A+ rating, there are a massive number of complaints just like mine. I am asking the CFPB to ensure my credit card company thoroughly investigates this dispute and considers the deceptive business practices involved.
