There are two loans on my account that are in default. The rest are all in good standing. The reason for default is allegedly not being able to contact me even though its the only two accounts unable to reach me. My address, phone number and email have always been updated on the US Department of education website. These loans are from over 20 years ago and this is the first I am hearing about them. The US Department of Education states that all loan information can be obtained on their studentaid.gov website. 13 years ago I applied for an income driven repayment plan and have made on time payments ever since. I was under the assumption that all my loans were covered under this program because they all showed in repayment and never in default. I do not know how loans that I never knew about can show up as defaulted upon after 22 years. This is a malicious practice and has effectively ruined my credit.
