I am the victim of identity theft. My Equifax credit report contains 20 fraudulent accounts and 3 unauthorized inquiries, all of which I did not open or authorize. These accounts are tied to addresses I have never even lived at. Several of them are also incorrectly listed as open and being factored into my credit utilization, despite being charged off by the original creditors for more than a year now ( as confirmed by the creditors ). On XX/XX/year>, I mailed a certified identity theft dispute package to Equifax. The package includes : Four FTC Identity Theft Reports A detailed dispute letter invoking FCRA 605B Government-issued ID, SSN card, and proof of address A summary of the 20 fraudulent accounts and 3 inquiries I am submitting the full documentation here through the CFPB portal as of today, making Equifax legally in possession of the identity theft report and all required supporting documentation under FCRA 605B. Under the law, Equifax must block the disputed identity theft information within 4 business days of receiving proper documentation, which includes this electronic submission. They are not entitled to delay action pending arrival of physical mail since all required documentation is already provided here. Any attempt to delay by claiming that they are waiting for the mailed version would violate their obligations under FCRA 605B.
