I am filing this complaint because the credit bureau has continued to report fraudulent accounts resulting from identity theft, despite my formal disputes and submission of supporting documentation ( including an FTC Identity Theft Report ). More seriously, the bureau has reinserted previously deleted fraudulent accounts without the proper certification from furnishers and without providing the required consumer notice, in direct violation of FCRA 1681i ( a ) ( 5 ). This misconduct is not an isolated incident. In fact, credit bureaus were sued late last year for the exact same unlawful practice, demonstrating a broader pattern of disregard for the Fair Credit Reporting Act and consumers ' rights.The bureau has failed to conduct a reasonable reinvestigation under FCRA 611 ( a ) / 15 U.S.C. 1681i, has not provided written verification or original documentation proving the legitimacy of the accounts, and continues to report unverifiable negative information, harming my credit and causing ongoing distress.
