Complaint Details : > I am filing this complaint because a debt collector contacted me regarding an alleged debt, but failed to provide a written validation notice within five ( 5 ) days of the initial communication, as required by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ), 15 U.S.C. 1692g ( a ). I never received such a notice. I am requesting that the CFPB investigate this violation, and I ask that the collection agency be required to cease all collection activities and remove any negative reporting from my credit file until they comply with federal law. Desired Resolution : The collection account should be removed from all credit reports. The debt collector must cease all collection efforts until a proper validation notice is issued.
