I am filing a formal complaint against Sallie Mae for retaliatory actions taken after I submitted disputes and legal complaints regarding their unlawful servicing practices. Specifically : Sallie Mae increased my loan balance by over {$2000.00} immediately after I submitted disputes to credit bureaus and government entities regarding their violations. In addition, I sent a letter asking them to respond to the CFPB and be accountable for their violations. 24 hours later, they had retaliated. This action caused a credit score drop of XXXX points in XXXX, despite no new activity or missed payments. The balance change occurred without justification and in the middle of an active investigation by the CFPB and the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia. I had been in school from XX/XX/XXXXXXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, yet Sallie Mae began charging me prematurely during in-school defermenta clear violation of their own contract terms. I made good faith payments of $ XXXX for four years while attending XXXX XXXX XXXX but they continued to add aggressive interest. They also accessed and contacted unrelated third parties, including family friends and individuals not affiliated with my loan, which may constitute a violation of the FDCPA and consumer privacy laws. After these events, Sallie Maes reporting and account adjustments have become erratic and harmful, interfering with my ability to secure employment-based transportation and attend medical appointments.
