Complaint Description ( Updated for XXXX XXXX ) : I am disputing the handling of the XXXX XXXX account by TransUnion and Equifax. This account was originally opened on XX/XX/XXXX, with the last payment made on XX/XX/XXXX. It was removed from my credit report and then re-added by TransUnion with a new last updated date of XX/XX/XXXX. This re-aging caused my TransUnion credit score to drop by XXXX points. Equifax also dropped my score XXXX points on XX/XX/XXXX, and another XXXX points on XX/XX/XXXX, in connection with this same account. I disputed this account because I have never been able to reach XXXX XXXX directly. All phone numbers lead to automated messages, and I have no way to speak to a representative or resolve the debt. I filed the dispute in hopes that it would provide me with contact information so I could pay off the balance. Instead, the dispute triggered a re-aging of the account and a massive score collapse. Disputes are not supposed to negatively impact credit scores. I am requesting a full investigation into how this account was re-aged, why it was removed and re-added, and how the dispute was handled. I also want a written explanation of how this update was verified, and why the account is still being reported as adverse despite being closed for years. This has caused me to lose access to housing and other financial opportunities.
