On XXXX I was notified that a hard credit inquiry was made to my credit report. I did not recognize the company, XXXX AXXXX, as I have never applied for credit or done business with that company. I called the company and found out that a fraudulent line of credit was opened in my name without my authorization. I reported this to the fraud dept of XXXX XXXX. They opened an investigation and verified that the line of credit was fraudulently opened and that the hard credit inquiry was done without my authorization. They sent me a letter notifying me of this. I contacted Equifax to find out what I need to do to remove the hard inquiry from my credit report as it has negatively impacted my credit score. I was told to file an identity theft report with the FTC and forward that to Equifax to get the hard inquiry removed and my credit rating restored. I did as they requested. I also filed 4 disputes online with Equifax attaching a copy of the FTC report and the letter from XXXX XXXX advising that the account opened was fraudulent and the hard credit inquiry was conducted without my authorization. Equifax has denied my disputes all 4 times stating that they have determined the information on my credit report is accurate and will stay on it for 2 years.
