Consumer Narrative
I am filing this complaint against American Express and their failure to accurately report account information to XXXX. Despite my multiple disputes with XXXX concerning this tradeline, American Express continues to verify and maintain clearly inaccurate data on my consumer report. The primary issue concerns the past due balance and overall account balance being reported. American Express is reporting a past due amount of {$6200.00}, but at the same time, the total balance reflected is {$10000.00} despite this being a closed account. If the account is closed, it is unclear and contradictory for the balance and past due amount to continue increasing over time. Every time I obtain a new credit report, the reported amount appears to grow without explanation or justification.Furthermore, it is illogical for the past due balance to be lower than the total balance if the account is no longer active. This discrepancy directly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), as furnishers are required to report accurate and consistent information. The conflicting numbers reflect gross negligence in maintaining accurate records and suggest reckless disregard for my rights under federal law.I have consistently identified and disputed these inaccuracies with XXXX and emphasized the contradiction in the numbers reported. However, American Express continues to verify the information as accurate, despite the fact that it is clearly false, misleading, and harmful to my consumer report and creditworthiness. This is my final warning and request for American Express to either : 1.Correct all inaccurate information, 2.Delete the tradeline from my XXXX consumer report entirely. I am seeking CFPBs assistance in holding American Express accountable for these ongoing violations and ensuring my consumer rights are protected.
