Consumer Narrative

From XXXX thru XX/XX/year>, my wife was hospitalized in XXXX different hospitals. She was responsible for our bills and I thought all our bills were on autopay. XXXX account ( XXXX XXXXXXXX ) was not. I stayed at the hospital with her the entire time XXXX and did not go home to check mail. Finally, a neighbor brought my mail to me and I discovered XXXX XXXX delinquency notices. I was very upset as my credit was perfect. I called the company. By then my wife was septic, comatose and near death ( for almost XXXX months ). I informed the company that the account should immediately be placed on autopay. They refused and said my wife would have to go online and activate that feature. The account was in my name. My wife was a complete unresponsive invalid. I made a payment over the phone and ordered the account closed. Even though the company would not let me activate the autopay feature, they agreed to close the account. They did not do so. The company began sending me new cards with Activate Now stickers on them. I ignored them. I soon discovered they were reporting me delinquent on these new cards. This has happened twice and is currently underway now. They have caused my credit rating to fall from Excellent to Fair. I discovered this when recently starting a mortgage refi. Today, XXXX XXXX stated debt collection calls. I STILL have the unsolicited cards with Activate Now stickers affixed. Between my wife and I we have four such inactivated cards. My wife eventually lost her leg, was sent home with problems that will take her life in the next year and this is how XXXX XXXX chose to provide customer support. Please force them to erase the inaccurate reporting from all three credit reports, stop collection efforts and stop mailing unsolicited cards to Activate. Thank you!
