Consumer Narrative

Subject : Formal Complaint XXXX XXXX XXXX and Credit Bureaus for Unfair and Inaccurate Credit Reporting Dear CFPB Representative, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding repeated inaccurate and unfair reporting on my credit reports by XXXX XXXX, which has resulted in significant and unjustified damage to my credit score. Summary of Issue : * On XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX reported my account as a charge-off which caused my credit score to decrease XXXX points. * On XX/XX/XXXX, the same account was flagged as collections, resulting in another score decrease of XXXX points. * On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX reported my account as a charge-off, which caused my credit score to decrease by XXXX points. * This is not the first time. I have a copy of my Experian credit report dated XX/XX/XXXX, which clearly states this XXXX XXXX account was a collection account back in XXXX. Since then, XXXX XXXX has switched the reporting status of this same account multiple times from collections to charge-off, back to collections, and then to charge-off again each time causing an unnecessary drop in my credit score. I believe this repeated re-aging and changing of the account status is an unfair practice and a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). It misrepresents the true status of the debt, artificially prolongs negative reporting beyond fair limits, and severely harms consumers like me who have worked diligently to rebuild their credit. As a result of these practices, I have suffered multiple unjust credit score reductions and have been denied credit opportunities. Action Requested : \nI respectfully request that the CFPB : XXXX. Investigate XXXX XXXX reporting practices to determine if they are in violation of FCRA provisions related to accurate and fair reporting. XXXX. Require the credit bureaus to correct my credit report and remove any inaccurate or unfair derogatory marks related to this account. XXXX. Prevent any future unfair re-aging or status-switching of this account. I am enclosing supporting documentation, including : * A copy of my Experian credit report ( dated XX/XX/XXXX ) * Recent notifications showing the changes in status and resulting score decreases Additional Complaint Against Experian, XXXX, and XXXX : I am also filing this complaint against Experian, XXXX, and XXXX :, which has continued to report XXXX XXXX conflicting and inaccurate account statuses despite clear evidence that the information is inconsistent and damaging. Experian has a legal duty under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to ensure the maximum possible accuracy of my credit information and to properly investigate disputes. I request that the CFPB hold Experian accountable for failing to ensure the accuracy of this account reporting. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this issue. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX
