Consumer Narrative
I am filing this complaint due to several inaccurate and misleading items being reported on my credit reports by XXXX XXXX ( two accounts ), XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX These accounts are negatively affecting my credit score due to false reporting, improper re-aging, and violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). Details of each account : XXXX XXXX XXXX ( 2 accounts ) : These accounts are reporting a {$0.00} balance but are still being listed as active collections. This is misleading and inaccurate. An account that has a {$0.00} balance should not continue to be reported as a derogatory collection, as it gives the false impression that the debt is still outstanding and collectible. XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX This account is also reporting a {$0.00} balance while being marked as a collection. This is inconsistent with fair credit reporting standards and is inaccurately hurting my creditworthiness. Again, a {$0.00} balance should not carry an active negative status unless the information is being misrepresented. XXXX XXXX XXXX : This account appears to be re-agedthe date of last activity has been changed to a more recent date, even though there has been no recent activity on the account. The balance is also inaccurate. This violates FCRA 605 ( c ), which prohibits re-aging of accounts, and FCRA 1681s-2 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( B ), which prohibits the reporting of information known to be inaccurate. Laws being violated : FCRA 1681e ( b ) : Requires that credit reporting agencies maintain maximum possible accuracy. FCRA 605 ( c ) : Prohibits the re-aging of accounts to keep derogatory information on a credit report beyond the 7-year limit. FCRA 1681s-2 ( a ) : Prohibits furnishers of credit information from reporting data they know or should know is inaccurate.
