I am filing this complaint because Equifax has failed to meet its obligations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). I submitted multiple disputes by certified mail regarding inaccurate and unauthorized items on my credit report, including XXXX XXXX, XXXX, and several hard inquiries. I provided proper documentation ( government ID, utility bill ) to verify my identity. Equifax responded with boilerplate letters claiming these items were verified without providing any actual proof or investigation records. In fact, they requested identity verification again, which had already been sentsuggesting an attempt to delay or avoid investigation. Under 15 U.S.C. 1681i, Equifax is required to conduct a reasonable investigation within 30 days. Under 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ), they must ensure maximum possible accuracy of the information reported. They have failed to do both. Additionally, 15 U.S.C. 1681b ( a ) ( 2 ) requires that I authorize any hard inquiries. I never gave consent for several inquiries that now appear on my report.
