Consumer Narrative

I have been trying to remove inaccurate negative items from my credit reports with XXXX XXXX and Equifax. Despite sending multiple dispute letters over the past few months, each bureau continues to report these items as " accurate. '' When I request the method of verification or proof that these items are valid, none of the bureaus have provided proper or adequate documentation as required under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). XXXX of the main items in question is an XXXX XXXX that was stolen and used without my authorization. While the account was originally mine, the charges that followed the theft were not. I filed a police report, which I have attached, and notified each credit bureau during the dispute process. However, the unauthorized charges are still being reported as valid and accurate, despite my documentation. Under FCRA Section 1681i ( a ), credit reporting agencies must conduct a reasonable investigation of disputed information and remove any inaccurate or unverifiable information within XXXX XXXX. Under Section 1681e ( b ), they are required to ensure the maximum possible accuracy of the information reported. Additionally, under Section 1681i ( a ) ( 5 ), any information that can not be verified must be deleted. All three bureaus have failed to follow these requirements. They continue to report inaccurate and unauthorized information, including the charges from the stolen XXXX XXXX, which has harmed my credit and affected my financial stability. They have not complied with their legal responsibilities and have not provided sufficient evidence to validate the disputed accounts. I have attached copies of the police report and all dispute letters I have submitted, which contain detailed information about each inaccurate item. I respectfully request the CFPBs assistance to ensure XXXX XXXX, and Equifax properly reinvestigate these accounts, follow the law, and remove any items that remain inaccurate or unverifiable.
