I sent a debt validation request to Midland Credit Management regarding a debt they are attempting to collect, allegedly originating from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ), 15 U.S.C. 1692g ( b ), debt collectors are required to cease collection and provide sufficient verification of the debt upon written request. What I received was not legally sufficient to constitute proper validation. They failed to provide : A signed agreement or contract between me and the original creditor Proof of chain of title showing clear transfer from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to Midland Complete and itemized accounting of the alleged debt ( including all interest, fees, and charges ) Proof of licensing to collect debt in Georgia Despite these failures, Midland continues to attempt to collect and report this on my credit.
