In XX/XX/XXXX, I made a purchase at XXXX using my personal credit card. I was not clearly informed that a Comenity Bank store credit card was being opened in my name at checkout. I did not knowingly apply for, activate, or agree to open a new credit account. I never received a physical card, welcome kit, or written account disclosures. I also never opted into paperless billing. I was unaware that a XXXX credit card account existed until I was notified in XX/XX/XXXX that it was delinquent. According to the statements, two consecutive late fees were assessed : one on XX/XX/XXXX, and another on XX/XX/XXXX. This indicates two billing cycles passed without my knowledge of the account or balance due. I never received any physical statements, despite being charged a recurring {$2.00} paper billing fee, which proves I was not enrolled in e-statements. As soon as I discovered the account, I paid the full balance, including interest and both late fees, on XX/XX/XXXX. I then mailed a written goodwill adjustment request to Comenity Bank on XX/XX/XXXX, explaining the situation and requesting removal of the reported delinquency. They refused. This derogatory mark was the result of XXXX failure to provide proper disclosure and billing notification, not willful nonpayment.
