Consumer Narrative
In XXXX of last year, a XXXX XXXX XXXX employee, XXXX XXXX, in XXXX XXXX, PA opened an on-line banking account in my name, to facilitate the replacement of a lost credit card. ( She actually took it upon herself to create my User ID and password, which I thought was irregular. ) In the process, and unbeknownst to me, she eliminated paper billing statements AND failed to establish electronic alerts. In addition, unlike my other credit card account, no automatic payments were set up. In other words, she changed everything, without informing me. As a result, after a few months passed, I had accumulated an unpaid balance, but was not notified of the obligation, only informed by the bank four days after the XX/XX/2025 due date, via an automated phone call. In contacting customer service, I realized what XXXX had done, without my consent ; I immediately paid my bill and activated electronic notifications. Still, XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX indicated they had reduced my credit line from {$12000.00} to approximately {$2000.00}, and reported the delinquency to Transunion, causing my credit score to plummet XXXX points. I placed several calls to the bank and they quickly and fully restored my credit line ( see attached ) and were confident the late payment would be reversed, but added the rating issue would procedurally take several months to fix, and counseled patience. In XXXX, I received a letter ( attached ) saying that they 'considered the issue resolved '' but without an explanation. I called the XXXX XXXX branch and spoke to the manager, XXXX XXXX, who said the Bank had sent me a delinquency letter prior to the final due date and they believed I had overlooked it. I explained that I had a perfect 20+ year credit history and had certainly not received such a notice. I asked for a copy and to date have not received it. None of this, of course, would have taken place except I was unilaterally signed up for electronic banking and not made aware that statements had been terminated, creating a very serious and stressful credit issue for me. It is not correct and inconsistent with the bank 's otherwise satisfactory service level. Finally, I spoke to FICO today ( XXXX ) and they strongly recommended I file a complaint with the CFB.
