XXXX initially charged me {$120.00} for a service I never used, following a misleading sales call. In late XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with a representative named XXXX ( XXXX ) who upsold me on internet services and assured me there was a XXXX risk-free trial with a full refund if I canceled. The equipment was shipped on XX/XX/XXXX, and I returned XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. I never activated the service or opened the box, and I made multiple attempts to cancel the account within the trial period. Despite this, the cancellation was not processed properly, and I continued to receive bills. In the last week of XX/XX/XXXX, I was contacted by a collections agency regarding the {$120.00} charge. Out of concern for my credit, I negotiated and paid {$89.00} to collections ( CBE Group ) just to get it resolvedeven though I should never have been charged anything in the first place. When I asked about disputing the charge, they told me Id need to mail in a dispute with no guarantee of success, and that it might affect my credit in the meantime. I also called XXXX again, and they acknowledged that the matter should have been resolved. However, they refused to provide any written confirmation because the account had already been closed in their system. I also have email confirmation that the equipment was returned, yet the billing continued regardless. Additionally, XXXX sales agent who misrepresented the servicehas completely stopped responding to my emails, despite being the person who set up this account under false pretenses. This experience has been extremely frustrating, and I feel misled, charged unfairly, and pressured into making a payment I did not owefor a service I never used and returned within the promised timeframe.
