I am disputing Nelnets attempt to collect on a student loan that no longer exists. I disputed the account with all three credit bureaus in XXXX, and by XXXX, it was confirmed closed/removed. Nelnet has failed to provide proper debt validation despite multiple requests in XXXX and XXXX. The U.S. Department of Education and my credit reports reflect the account is no longer valid. Nelnets continued collection attempts violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ). I have attached proof of my dispute and credit report results. I am requesting CFPB investigate this matter and ensure Nelnet stops contacting me about an invalid account. XX/XX/XXXX - Documenting the Process on how I asked for Validation XX/XX/XXXX - Sent Final letters of notice to remove the debt and a cease/desist to Nelnet via certified mail XX/XX/XXXX - Nelnet Called twice/ Answered twice but no one responded and Nelnet hung up both times XX/XX/XXXX - Received another debt collection letter XX/XX/XXXX - Called Nelnet to get assumed loan amount and see why was it wasn't reflecting closed account, confirmed with the rep that they did receive the first letter but never responded.
