Company - XXXX XX/XX/year>- we had our initial meeting with our loan consultant. He stated in the meeting that our collective credit score was 1-2 points away from qualifying for a cash-to-close discount of approximately {$800.00}. He said that he would get with his XXXX XXXX reps to figure out what we could do to get the discount. XX/XX/year> - our loan consultant called us back and stated that our collective credit score would improve 1-2 points and would qualify for the discount if my fiance put between XXXX XXXXXXXX on her XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX This was based on advice given to him by their XXXX XXXX reps. XX/XX/year> - My fiance made a {$13.00} purchase on her XXXX XXXX XX/XX/year> - original closing date delayed until XX/XX/year> due to new post-closing disclosures. XX/XX/year> - I was texted by our loan consultant at XXXX with the following message : Hey! I spoke with your XXXX XXXX rep today and they said your new credit scores should have updated by now. Do we have you and your fiancs permission to update the credit report? Still an opportunity to save you guys money. XX/XX/year> - I was called at XXXX on the day before closing and was told that our XXXX purchase had the opposite effect of raising our credit score by 1-2 points, and in actuality dropped our score by that same amount. Our loan consultant said that in order to proceed with closing, I needed to obtain a cashiers check to bring the closing to pay the balance on one of my credit cards, and two of my finances. One of her credit cards only had a statement balance with the {$13.00} purchase we were instructed to make. Additionally, I was told our debt to income ratio was now off, and that we would now need to pay an additional {$16.00} a month in PMI. Our loan consultant said that he was unsure why this happened and that he would get with the XXXX XXXX people and let me know what happened. I am filing a formal complaint because I have not been told any additional information regarding this matter, and a purchase that we were instructed to make by our mortgage lender has now backfired into an additional {$160.00} paid towards PMI a year. This is instead of the {$800.00} discount we were told we would be getting. I believe that XXXX had malicious intent with their initial offer of the discount, and that this is a credit repair scam that tricks home-buyers like me into paying more in PMI.
