Nelnet reported a XXXX late payment on my student loan in XXXX. I only found out after my credit score dropped over XXXX points. When I contacted Nelnet, they admitted that the address on file was incorrect, which meant I never received any notice that the loan had exited forbearance in XXXX. I was not avoiding repayment, I simply didnt know a payment was due. I had no idea the forbearance had ended and was unaware of the delinquency. Nelnet claims they called me, but I did not receive clear or official written notice, and their attempt to contact me at an outdated address is not a valid excuse to justify this massive credit damage.
