I am filing this complaint regarding an issue with my Venmo account, which was recently frozen due to an alleged outstanding debt of {$95.00}. I believe this situation is the result of an error or potential fraud, and I am being unfairly held responsible. I have not made any purchases or authorized any transactions on my Venmo account since XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX day, I logged into my account and noticed that someone I do not know had sent me {$100.00}. The payment was placed on hold, so I assumed it was some sort of mistake or would be resolved on its own. I did not even see the money in my account and thought nothing of it at the time. About a month later on XX/XX/year> XXXX, I discovered that Venmo had paid {$95.00} toward a transaction I did not authorize. They apparently took the {$5.00} that was still in my account and paid the remaining {$95.00}, putting my account into debt. I now owe {$95.00}, which I do not believe is fair the dispute was put in that same day. It appears that the {$100.00} initially sent to me may have been reversed or charged back by the sender whom I do not know and never interacted with. I was not involved in this transaction in any way, did not request the money, and had no prior knowledge of the person who sent it. I suspect this may have been a scam or fraudulent action, and I do not understand why I am being held liable. I believe I am being unjustly penalized for something completely outside of my control.
