Was directly effected by the Equifax data breach. my sensitive information was compromised address, social security number, drivers license number, date of birth and my name. I was directly affected by this breach, as confirmed by the official breach notification letter and control number provided to me by Equifax. Despite acknowledging the breach, Equifax failed XXXX to protect my personal information, failed to prevent unauthorized access, and has not taken sufficient accountability for the long- term consequences this exposure has caused. I am concerned about the long term effects will have on myself and other consumers. I am also concerned about the continuing risk of Identity theft, financial fraud, and other misuse of my personal data. I am asking that the CFPB hold Equifax fully accountable for their failure to safeguard consumer data, for the harm caused, and for then ongoing risks consumers like myself now face as a result of their negligence. I have taken the steps to safeguard my information freezing my credit reports, changing passwords. I am asking for immediate corrective actions, including but not limited to : extend credit monitoring, financial restitution where appropriate, permanent data security improvements, and full transparency regarding the breach impact and protections offered to affected individuals.
