Wednesday, XX/XX/year> To whom it may concern, I am filing this discrimination complaint against American Express for failing to offer me credit on one of their BASIC credit cards XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I have an OUTSTANDING credit history and a current credit score of XXXX according to XXXX which is the credit bureau that AmEx uses to evaluate creditors. My theory is that since I pay off all of my bills/credit cards/lines of credit by the due date, which I have done for the past 40 years, that AmEx believes that they will not make any money off of me with regard to interest charges, late fees, etc. and thus will not issue me the card. Upon my initial declination of the card via an over the phone application with XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX on Friday, XX/XX/year>, I was told I would be sent an e-mail explaining the reason for my declination which I NEVER received. I later found out that the reason I was declined was due to too many recently opened accounts ( I have opened 5 TOTAL accounts ; i.e., credit cards/lines of credit ; in the past 2 years including 3 accounts within the past year ). Additionally, the confirmation e-mail that I receive during the application process included sections regarding Financial Information, Rewards and Benefits and Welcome Offer Details. According to XXXX XXXX XXXX, the e-mail was also supposed to include the Terms and Conditions which it did not. I mentioned this to him and also stated I was not concerned about those issues at the time sincewellmy ability to handle credit and my bills. I was told to contact XXXX regarding my credit situation, and they confirmed all was well and that I had EXCEPTIONAL credit in EVERY ASPECT ( even my closed accounts were all EXCEPTIONAL/PAID/NEVER LATE ). I applied ONLINE today and was again denied credit. So I called AmEx again today and spoke with XXXXXXXX XXXX ) about getting a credit card and was denied once again.
