Consumer Narrative
Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, My name is XXXX XXXX, and I am filing a formal complaint against Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion for failing to maintain the maximum possible accuracy of the information contained in my credit reports, as mandated under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), 15 U.S.C. 1681. Upon reviewing my credit files, I found multiple unauthorized and inaccurate accounts, outdated addresses, and hard inquiries reported without my consent. Specifically, items from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and multiple collection agencies appear across my credit reports. Additionally, several previous addresses and unauthorized hard inquiries from XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX were listed. These reports were made without permissible purpose and without my written authorization, violating 15 U.S.C. 1681b and 1681c. I formally disputed these inaccuracies and issued an opt-out notice to each bureau, demanding that they delete the disputed accounts, addresses, and inquiries, and cease any further unauthorized reporting of my personal information. Despite providing detailed disputes and invoking my rights under the FCRA and the Privacy Act of 1974 ( 5 U.S.C. 552a ), the bureaus have not adequately corrected the records or provided sufficient verification of the disputed items. Their failure to correct and remove these unauthorized and inaccurate items has negatively impacted my creditworthiness, caused financial hardship, and subjected me to emotional distress. I am requesting the CFPBs assistance in enforcing my consumer rights. I respectfully ask that the CFPB investigate these violations and ensure that Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion : Permanently delete the inaccurate accounts, addresses, and hard inquiries ; Cease reporting my personal information without explicit written consent ; Provide an updated and corrected copy of my credit reports free of charge. If these issues are not resolved promptly, I am prepared to pursue all remedies available under 15 U.S.C. 1681n and 1681o for willful or negligent noncompliance. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX
