Consumer Narrative

My previous complaint dealing with a private student loan was taken back to Sallie Mae. However, there has been no way for me to actively pay the loan without giving my information over the phone. No payment plans or anything like that. It was never on my Sallie Mae account at all after it was sold off and brought back to Sallie Mae. I've received, at best, XXXX letters in the mail regarding the remaining amount months ago, but there was no indication of where I needed to pay it besides giving my personal information over a phone call to agent. In fact, my biggest complaint overall is that the day I received a call from Sallie Mae when they had gotten my loan back, I expressed I had just lost my XXXX XXXX DAY prior and the agent was incredibly rude about it and pressuring me to pay over the phone. I ended up paying {$90.00} holding fee for no reason to this agent over the phone in the midst of my new grief. She was incredibly pushy and purposefully tried to intimidate me. On the phone call, you can hear a family member of mine stating they could hear the woman being rude to me while I was explaining to her that my mother had just passed away. This was the day after XXXX XXXX. My mother had not been dead XXXX hours yet. Sallie Mae has been incredibly unprofessional since they initially sold off my private loan to an unreachable company, knowing it would affect my credit. I'm sure others have had similar experiences with Sallie Mae and their predatory practices. Despite all this, prior to them selling off my loan, my payments were always on time. They've now sent my loan to a debt collector. Not once did they ever make my loan accessible to be paid without speaking to them over the phone. After the last phone call I had with them, the thought of speaking to them made me incredibly stressed and anxious because of how pushy the customer service rep was. I can only assume this all stems from my initial complaint and I was being intimidated.
