I am submitting this complaint against Experian, TransUnion, and XXXX regarding their handling of a medical collection that appears on my credit report. I have disputed this collection account with the credit bureaus and provided documentation to support my position. Despite this, Experian has refused to remove the item. TransUnion and XXXX have also failed to act in accordance with current federal guidance on medical debt reporting. Under the updated FCRA ( Fair Credit Reporting Act ) guidelines and recent policy changes announced by the credit bureaus, medical collections under {$500.00}, or those that have been paid or are over one year old, should no longer be reported. Additionally, the No Surprises Act provides further protections for consumers regarding certain types of medical debt. My complaint is as follows : 1. The bureaus continue to report a medical collection that should be excluded under current reporting standards. 2. Experian in particular has stated they will not remove the item, despite my dispute and request for reinvestigation. 3. This negative reporting is affecting my credit score and access to financial opportunities unjustly. I am requesting that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau investigate this matter. I am also requesting the credit reporting agencies in question take immediate corrective action by : Removing the disputed medical collection from my credit report. Providing a written response detailing their investigation and final decision. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
