I currently bank with 5/3 bank in XXXX North Carolina. I received an active check to deposit in my account. I deposited my check through phone but the next day I went to bank to try and cash it because I did not see funds available. I explained to the teller I had attempted to deposit through phone but did not see money so I was coming in believing they maybe needed to see check. Only to be told I did not need to do that. As I was watched like a low subordinate who does not know the difference in an active check. Next day still no funds deposited from active check when they state they are trying to verify check. I made numerous calls to bank and retirement group who gave me a number to give them to verify check is active and legitimate. Bank said they have had no response from retirement company but retirement company verified bank was just holding my check cause they wanted to. I believe my race has played a major part in the hold of my hard earned income. The way I watched leaving the bank and the history of the bank for discrimination. Never have I heard an active check being placed on hold
