I am writing to formally file a complaint against Jefferson capital systems who is attempting to collect a debt allegedly owed to XXXX XXXX XXXX, a company that has since gone out of business. The debt is from XXXX and was recently updated to reflect a new date, despite the passage of more than 5 years. This appears to be illegal re-aging of the account, in violation of the FCRA, 15 U.S.C. 1681c ( a ) ( 4 ). Additionally, I have received no documentation or validation of this debt under 15 U.S.C. 1692g, even after a certified letter asking for said information within the proper amount of time which company failed to do so., nor have I received a 1099-C tax form from original creditor which is required when a debt is charged off and over {$600.00}. The original creditors closure raises serious concerns about the authenticity and chain of title of the alleged debt. I am requesting an investigation and appropriate enforcement action to ensure that my consumer rights are protected and that this debt is either properly validated or removed from my credit file.
