Consumer Narrative
On XXXX XXXX I mailed a check for XXXX to pay my property tax. The check was stolen from the post office box and it was washed and cashed the same day. I did not know the check was stolen until XX/XX/year> when I received a letter saying my taxes were delinquent. My bank statement noted the check was cashed and I believed the tax was paid. When I saw a copy of the check I released someone forged my signature. The bank refused to reimburse me because it was over 30 days. They never should have cashed the bogus check in the first place!
