On XX/XX/XXXX I mailed a dispute letter to Trans Union to investigate a violation of the FCRA. I included proof of identity. I then received an e-mail from them stating they would not investigate because it did not appear that the letter came from me. I called them today to confirm that it did come from me and why I wanted to dispute. The reps could not under what I was trying to convey to them, as they clearly do not have a complete understanding of the English language, they refused to assist me. I am sending in another, now handwritten letter requests to dispute, once again. This will elongate the process of having this item removed from my report, and I am needing to buy a house as my current landlord has given us a notice they want us to move. Im in a desperate situation to have this corrected, and they refused to help me, even over the phone, they would not process the dispute. This is the original letter mailed to TransUnion : Dear TransUnion, I am writing to formally dispute a collection account reported on my credit file. The details of the account are as follows : Creditor Name : XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX Original Creditor : XXXX XXXX XXXX Date of First Delinquency : XXXX Date Reported by Collection Agency : XX/XX/XXXX While I acknowledge that this debt originated in XXXX, I find the recent reporting by the collection agency unfairly damaging and misleading. This debt was placed for collection years ago, and its sudden appearance in XXXX being past the statute of limitations for legal collection in XXXX an unfair negative impact on my creditworthiness. I believe this reporting is in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) guidelines, as it misrepresents the age of the debt and unnecessarily extends its effect on my credit profile. Under the FCRA, information that is misleading or unfair can be removed, even if technically accurate. Therefore, I respectfully request that this account be removed from my credit report due to its outdated and unfair nature. Please conduct an investigation into this matter and provide a written response detailing your findings. I have enclosed a copy of my drivers license and a recent utility bill to verify my identity.
