I got an account with XXXX XXXX. Due to the fact that I temporarily moved to California and the gym had multiple Covid safety violations as well as safety issues, I decided to cancel. I attempted to cancel online and I was told that I needed to go in person to cancel the charge. I went five days in a row and was told each time that the manager was not available. I wrote a letter alerting the gym that I could no longer maintain my membership due to again Covid safety violations, being groped in the gym by a homeless man, and also having to move to California for about six months for work. I emailed the manager showing proof that the membership was indeed canceled and her response was that because I did not meet with her in person. The membership was not in canceled. They locked my gym account and requested that I pay a year worth of membership, despite by having the membership for less than three months nipping legal to not allow a person to cancel a membership online in the state of California. They sold the debt to a debt collector Aldous, for the amount of {$140.00}.
