XX/XX/XXXX Received XXXX email stating I owed money and to call ph # XXXX right away which I did. Told that I owed {$6000.00} to their company, XXXX, and that I would go to prison if I failed to make the payment within 24 hrs. They wanted {$6000.00} in cash which I didnt have so I was terrorized into obtaining gift cards. I was only able to obtain gift cards for XXXX, XXXX, XXXX for a total of {$1700.00} which I charged to Discover credit card. They then told me to scratch off the card number then text a copy of front/back of each card which I did to # XXXX. They then told me that we were done for the day and they would be in touch again tomorrow until XXXX received all of the {$6000.00}. XX/XX/XXXX : Contacted Discover to dispute charges and cancel credit card. At time of call, only {$500.00} XXXX gift card showed pending transaction. No record of the remaining {$1200.00} in gift cards. XX/XX/XXXX : {$1200.00} first noted on Discover card for the remaining gift cards. Contacted Discover to dispute these charges and advised to contact Trade Commission and/or Federal Communications Commission which I accessed online. Was then directed to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau which brings me to this dispute.
