Subject : Failure to Investigate and Respond to Identity Theft Dispute within Required Timeframe Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am filing a formal complaint against Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion for fa iling to investigate and respond to my identity theft dispute within the legally required timeframe under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) ( 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ). Details of My Complaint : 1. I was a victim of the Equifax data breach, which exposed my personal information. 2. As a result, I became a victim of identity theft, and fraudulent accounts have appeared on my credit report. XXXX. On [ XX/XX/year> ], I submitted disputes to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, requesting that they remove fraudulent accounts from my credit file under the FCRA and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) ( 15 U.S.C. 1692g ). 4. Under FCRA ( 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) ), the credit bureaus are required to investigate and respond to disputes within 30 days.
