In XXXX of XXXX I received a notice that kohns law firm was trying to garnish my wages. I Swifty sent them proof that my wages couldn't be garnished because I was receiving government assistance ( food share and Medicaid ). They stopped the garnishment. On XX/XX/XXXX I received an email that they started the garnishment back up again. I contacted them to see why. They didn't fix the issue even though my wages can't be garnished. I receive/received relief funded under public assistance, relief funded under 59.53 ( 21 ), Wis. Stats., medical assistance, supplemental security income, food stamps, or veterans benefits based on need under USC 501 to 562 or 45.351 ( 1 ), Wis . Stats., or have received these benefits within the past 6 months, or are eligible but have not yet received these benefits. I stopped receiving food share on XX/XX/XXXX but according to the law they have to wait six months after I receive benefits to begin collection.
