Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am submitting this formal complaint against LVNV Funding LLC for failing to investigate and remove fraudulent debt from my credit report, despite multiple disputes and the submission of supporting documentation. On XX/XX/2024, I sent a certified dispute letter to LVNV Funding LLC regarding a fraudulent collection account appearing on my credit report. Despite the legal obligation to investigate and respond, the company has failed to reply. Background of the Dispute : In XX/XX/2024, after discovering fraudulent accounts on my credit report, I placed a freeze on my credit and filed a police report documenting identity theft. I submitted formal disputes to XXXX XXXXXXXX and LVNV Funding LLC in XX/XX/2024. XXXX XXXX promptly removed the fraudulent accounts, but LVNV Funding LLC did not act. On XX/XX/2024, I mailed dispute letters to all three major credit bureaus ( XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX ), providing a copy of my police report, CFPB complaint, and prior correspondence with LVNV Funding LLC. Despite my submissions, LVNV Funding LLC failed to investigate or remove the fraudulent collection from my credit report. Additionally, the credit bureaus verified the debt as valid, further damaging my credit profile. Violations and Request for Resolution : LVNV Funding LLCs failure to investigate and respond violates the FCRA, which mandates that furnishers of information must investigate disputed accounts and remove unverifiable or fraudulent information.
