Consumer Narrative

To Whom It May Concern : I am writing to file a formal complaint against all three major credit reporting agencies ( CRAs ) - Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax - for their failure to conduct reasonable investigations of my disputes as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). Legal Basis for Complaint : Under Section 611 of the FCRA ( 15 U.S.C. 1681i ), credit reporting agencies are required to : Conduct a reasonable investigation of disputed information Review and consider all relevant information submitted by the consumer Complete the investigation within 30 days Provide written results of the investigation to the consumer Specific Violations : The credit bureaus have failed to meet these obligations in the following ways : They did not conduct meaningful investigations of my disputes, instead merely parroting back information from the furnishers without independent verification They failed to consider the supporting documentation I provided with my disputes They continued to report inaccurate information even after being presented with evidence of its inaccuracy Financial Impact : Due to their failure to properly investigate and correct the inaccurate information, I have suffered significant financial harm : Denial of credit opportunities Higher interest rates on existing accounts Difficulty obtaining housing/employment Emotional distress from dealing with persistent inaccuracies Requested Resolution : I request that the CFPB : Investigate the credit bureaus ' dispute investigation practices Require them to conduct proper investigations of my disputes as required by law Hold them accountable for violations of the FCRA Require them to implement better dispute investigation procedures Provide appropriate monetary compensation for the financial harm caused I have maintained detailed records of all my disputes and the bureaus ' responses, which I can provide upon request. Under the FCRA, I am entitled to accurate credit reporting and proper investigation of my disputes. The credit bureaus ' failure to fulfill their legal obligations has caused me significant harm that needs to be addressed. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
