On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a credit card from Cash App that I never requested. Someone used my personal information to open an Cash App account. I reached out to Cash App and notified them of the fraudulent activity. After providing Cash App with pictures of the credit card, they closed the account on XXXX XXXX, XXXX but provided no further information such as balances, who or how the account was established. I immediately placed a freeze on my credit with all XXXX credit bureaus. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a 1099-k form in the mail filed by XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX transactions were recorded on an account using my social security number. A total of {$6900.00} ( gross amount of payment card/third party network transactions ) all occurred between XXXX XXXX, during the time the Cash App account was created with my stolen information. I reached out to Cash App to update the 1099-k to reflect XXXX since it was not my account and I never authorize any of the transactions. Cash App has been absolutely no help, providing only the following generic email response : Hi, Our team has received your claim regarding the 1099 tax document issued to you. Cash App does not provide tax advice. If you have further questions about your particular tax situation you should reach out to your tax advisor. If you believe your personal information is being used, we recommend visiting IdentityTheft.gov ( https : //www.identitytheft.gov/ ) where they can help you report and recover from identity theft. If you would like to further pursue this claim, you may wish to contact local law enforcement.
