Consumer Narrative

I am filing this complaint against Equifax , Inc. and Equifax Information Services LLC due to serious violations of my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) and their failure to investigate and resolve multiple inaccuracies on my credit report. My experience with Equifax reflects the systemic issues identified in the Bureau 's XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX order against Equifax for its failure to comply with FCRA and the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010. Issue Accessing My Credit Report On multiple occasions, I attempted to access my credit report via XXXX, but I repeatedly encountered error messages. Although I was able to log into my account, my credit report was inaccessible, and no data was provided. I contacted Equifax by phone, but their representatives were unhelpful and unwilling to provide clear explanations or escalate my concerns. After verifying my identity by providing my address, Social Security number, and date of birth, I was asked to submit a photo of myself along with my ID. This request was excessive and unnecessary for accessing my free credit report, which I am legally entitled to under FCRA. When I asked to escalate the matter to a supervisor, Equifax representatives actively obstructed my efforts. I was transferred to a representative named XXXX ( Employee ID : XXXX ), who refused to provide clear answers or transfer me to a higher authority. Despite repeated requests, I was denied access to a supervisor or the complaints department. I simply was requesting reason why one might encounter these issues. Additionally, during the verification process, I was asked to confirm whether I held a credit card in a specific year but was not provided a list of multiple-choice options, as is standard practice. When I asked for clarification, the representative stated they would not read any options to me. Clearly because they were upset and attempted to continue to lie to me and obstruct my right to get my credit report. This process is unreasonableconsumers with multiple accounts can not be expected to accurately verify such details without sufficient context or support. As a result, I am still unable to access my credit report, which is a direct violation of my rights under the FCRA. Failure to Investigate Inaccuracies on My Credit Report : Equifax has also failed to properly investigate and resolve multiple inaccuracies on my credit report, despite my efforts to dispute these items directly with Equifax. I formally disputed several inaccuracies on my credit report beginning on XX/XX/XXXX, when I filed a complaint with Equifax and via the CFPB and sent a certified letter outlining my disputes. I followed up on XX/XX/XXXX, but Equifax has not provided any meaningful resolution or substantive responses and documentation of verification to address my concerns as requested. If Equifax is intentionally, knowingly and purposefully, lying about accounts being verified what else are they lying about. The disputed inaccuracies on my credit report include ( But are not all ) the following : XXXX. XXXX I contacted XXXX. XXXX directly to request verification of the debt from this company. The company was unable to verify it and indicated they sent a deletion request to all credit bureaus. However, Equifax has failed to remove this account, as reflected on XXXX XXXX. ( Please see attached ( Read MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS : ) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX I sent a formal verification requests to these furnishers, but neither has responded to validate the debt. Equifaxs Generic Dispute Responses For all disputed accounts, Equifax has responded with vague claims that the accounts were verified with the creditor. However, Equifax has not provided any supporting documentation, such as contracts with my signature or other legitimate evidence. Simply taking the word of a furnisher does not satisfy the FCRA 's requirement for a thorough reinvestigation. Equifaxs Systemic Violations I believe my experience reflects the systemic issues that the CFPB identified in its XX/XX/XXXX, order against Equifax. According to the Bureau, Equifax has repeatedly violated the FCRA by : - Failing to properly reinvestigate disputed information in consumer files ; - Failing to provide adequate written notice to consumers of the results of reinvestigations ; - Relying excessively on furnishers and ineffective systems to resolve disputes, which denies consumers proper resolution ; - Failing to follow reasonable procedures to ensure maximum possible accuracy in consumer reports. - Equifaxs refusal to thoroughly reinvestigate my disputes, their failure to provide documentation supporting their claims of verification, and their inability to adequately address my concerns are clear violations of my rights under the FCRA.
