I leased a XXXX XXXX and Bethpage was the finance company. in XX/XX/XXXX the lease ended. I was instructed to return the vehicle to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). The vehicle was picked up and XXXX informed me that I had a {$XXXX} balance. I continued to receive mail from Bethpage CU which showed that I had an active savings account with funds in it. No mention of any outstanding balance On XX/XX/XXXX I called to close out my checking account and have the remaining funds sent to my home address. I was told by the Bethpage rep that they could not close the account because of an open balance on the lease account. I was told by the Bethpage rep that my account was overdue and accruing interest since XXXX. I was told I could not make a payment over the phone but had to wire funds into Bethpage I was told the outstanding was {$XXXX} XXXX explained that these numbers made XXXX sense, but I want to close out the account and file a dispute after. I wired into my Bethpage savings account enough funds to complete the {$XXXX} due. I called back to make a payment. I was told by the Bethpage rep that they could not close the account because I owed {$XXXX}. I paid this amount over the phone with my checking account information from XXXX. Bethpage engages in deceptive practices to ensure that overdue balances are not disclosed in order to rack up fees and interest. The entire return process with XXXX is to hide the responsible party Bethpage CU. The XXXX reps tell consumers {$XXXX} balance due. Bethpage send out notices of bank account information but nothing connected to the auto lease. Bethpage Reps contradict each other with endless calculations and numbers that move all over the place.
