On XX/XX/year>, I disputed XXXX finance account with Transunion, asserting that the information being reported was inaccurate as it is not my account. Despite my request, Transunion failed to conduct a reasonable investigation as required under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), 15 U.S.C. 1681i, and failed to ensure that the information reported on my credit file was accurate as required by 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ). XXXX XXXX XXXX Under the FCRA : 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) : Credit reporting agencies are required to conduct a reasonable investigation of disputed items within 30 days of receiving a dispute. 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ) : Consumer reporting agencies must follow reasonable procedures to assure maximum possible accuracy of the information in credit reports. 15 U.S.C. 1681c ( a ) ( 5 ) : If disputed information can not be verified, it must be removed from the consumers credit file promptly. Transunions Violation Transunions failure to adequately verify the Exeter account violates these provisions of the FCRA. Despite my dispute, Transunion has continued to report the INACCUARATE information, which suggests that no reasonable investigation was conducted. This failure to act in accordance with the law is unacceptable. The presence of this inaccurate information on my credit report has caused significant harm to my financial stability and personal life, including : Adverse credit decisions : Denials or higher interest rates for loans, credit cards, and other financial opportunities. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX a loss of trust in credit reporting systems. Financial harm : Missed opportunities for lower interest rates on financial products, which has unnecessarily increased my financial burden.
