The wife, who has a Capital One QuickSilver XXXX card linked to my account, tried to purchase a product from a company that she has used a number of times before. Capital one would not allow the purchase to go through. They sent me a notice on both my cell number and email saying they needed me to contact their ( Capital One ) fraud department via phone, which I did. We went through the normal identification process, and I said the purchase was " OK ''. But in addition, they want me to send them a scanned copy of my government issued ID ( Passport and CA Driver 's License ). I said they don't need to have that sensitive information in light of current data security breaches. They insisted that I must send them those copies. I said, I'll take my rewards cash ( {$830.00} plus ), close my account, and take my business somewhere else. Why after over a dozen years of doing business with Capital One, do they need such information sent to them? They said they will not send me my cash reward without the previously aforementioned IDs. My on line account has been restricted in addition. They are holding XXXX my Rewards Cash until I send them scanned copies of those IDs. This is stealing! They know it's me for all the other identification processes, but want to blackmail me into to sending them sensitive government issued IDs in order for me to get the money.
