Consumer Narrative
I ( XXXX XXXX ) and my husband XXXX XXXX purchased our first home brand new in XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXXXXXX. The mortgage company at the time of purchase was XXXX Mortgage then, in XXXX we received notice that XXXX was selling off some of its mortgage policies to Wells Fargo in North Carolina. After continuing to make auto-payments from our XXXX checking account to our Wells Fargo mortgage account. We received notice in XX/XX/XXXX or XXXX that Wells Fargo did not apply our auto payments from XXXX in full to our monthly mortgage bill. Wells Fargo stated we were 8 months behind and in the letter said we had 30 days to bring our account current. My XXXX account showed all electronic payments were made. I asked for an accounting summary from Wells Fargo. I received it 30 days later. There were XXXX or XXXX transactions made by Wells Fargo accounting department that showed various amounts of withdrawals and various amounts of smaller if no deposit back to the mortgage account. My husband and I have never banked with Wells Fargo so, neither of us had access to the mortgage account to make any withdrawals. In addition, each month I received a bill showing the payment had been made. At this point the Wells Fargo accounting and headquarters refused to talk with me or assist me in finding out what happened and correct the fraudulent unauthorized transactions. Wells Fargo put us behind by XXXX to XXXX payments ( I recall ) then, they sent a Foreclosure notice and started adding attorney 's fees. They refused to help correct or prove who withdrew the various amounts from my mortgage account or acknowledge that each month that we received a bill showed all payments were made on time and in full. I contacted the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX office to file a complaint and ask for help. They responded that there were no other complaints at the time and they recommended I hire an attorney on my own. I called and met with multiple attorney 's. All told me that the Attorney Generals office is the only way I would stand a chance of getting Wells Fargo to admit they committed fraud as my XXXX XXXX sent me proof that all funds were sent to Wells Fargo. At that point I felt I had to sell both vehicles to pay additional money to Wells Fargo to keep them from leveraging XXXX XXXX XXXX '' Foreclosure on my home based on their internal theft. All in all Wells Fargo stole 8 payments of XXXX XXXX monthly payments and then, XXXX me for another {$8000.00} to pay them to stop the foreclosure.
