Consumer Narrative
Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ), I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding TransUnions failure to properly investigate fraudulent items on my credit report. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this matter, the fraudulent items remain on my report, causing significant financial and personal hardship. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email from TransUnion acknowledging receipt of my dispute and stating that it had been seven days since they received it. The email further indicated that the investigation could take up to 30 days. However, as of today, XX/XX/XXXX, I have not received any resolution, and the disputed items are still present on my credit report. TransUnion continues to email me stating they are waiting for a response from the creditor ( s ), yet no substantive action has been taken to address my concerns. The fraudulent items on my credit report are severely impacting my ability to secure housing. I am in the process of moving to accommodate my growing family as I am expecting a baby girl. However, my applications for housing have been denied due to the negative impact of these erroneous entries on my credit report. This situation has caused me significant emotional distress and financial hardship during what should be a joyful time for my family. I have provided all necessary information and documentation to TransUnion to demonstrate that the disputed items are fraudulent. Despite this, their failure to complete the investigation in a timely and thorough manner violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) and my rights as a consumer. I am requesting immediate intervention by the CFPB to ensure that TransUnion fulfills its obligations under the FCRA to properly investigate and remove the fraudulent items from my credit report. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to pursue legal action to seek damages for the financial and emotional hardships caused to me and my family. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
